Restoration Log for Coke Vendo 81a Belonging to A Customer in Minneapolis:
Machine is an original 81a Coke Vending Machine that the customer got at an Estate Sale.
Machine is complete minus one shelf but looks complete.
Back side of machine on beltine is EXTREMELY rusted away,, big holes will require cutting out bad area and welding and shaping new metal.
Tear down on machine is done, and all parts are sorted and being cleaned, polished and parts sent out for Chrome, Zinc, and Powder coating.
Now the waiting game is on , while we wait for these parts to come back to reassemble.
After Blasting the bottom pan and back of the the machine where completely rusted through. Looked like swiss cheese. Cut out bottom pan like normal and replaced with all new metal, also had to cut out , form and weld in new metal on back side. Looks good as new now!
INterior parts are still being worked on..
Body is back together, looks as good as new now, and paint is being applied this week. Main cab and door are done in red and white top will be painted this week as well.
Internal tub and bottle stack parts are still at platers and powder coated... should be back soon and then reassembled.
Body and door are painted and main door is a sign painters getting hand lettered.. once tub and internals come back from powder, the insides will be put in and assembly will begin.

Main door is painted and back in the shop, ready for assembly.
Main door gets new insulation, door liner , and gaskets . Light assembly is restored and reinstalled in machine door.
Main Cabinet gets all new insulation, refinished tub reinstalled and put back in machine with new breaker strips installed.
Ready for the small parts now..
Coin mech installed as well as small door accessories, new logos, Chrome Strip and decals applied.
New Stainless Kick plate installed and everyting is done..
Machine is ready to go home!
